This third edition of the 'Sunflower' guide to Cyprus is the ideal book for walking or getting about the island. Includes bus time-tables at rear, though make sure you check with the operators before setting off

Peter Flint and Peter Stuart: The Birds of Cyprus Fauna; Hardback;Second ed: 1992; Demy 8vo; pp234 inc a few b/w and colour plates, tables and charts. A book for the serious ornothologist, detailing the feathered life on the island of Cypus

Henriette Gorter:  Centuries Old Trees; Small 8vo; paperback, spiral bound,1997, pp71 inc index with a few colour and b/w photos and line drawings within. A book on trees: endemic, indigenous and introduced and their importance to Cyprus and Cypriot life

William MacFarlane: Cyprus Walks Paperback, pocket-book; pp127+ads. Dinky little book of walks (20 of them) on the island of Cyprus, with line maps and colour photos throughout. In this section as a nature book.   Order this Book

George Sfikas: Wild Flowers of Cyprus Paperback; sm8vo;pp320 inc index and bibliography.Illustrated in colour (parallel to the text) throughout. George Sfikas' nature books are either really ropey or in the case of Wild Flowers of Crete and this book on the flora of Cyprus, very good indeed

Valerie Sinclair: The Floral Charm of Cyprus- Plants and flowers, Shrubs and Trees, Landscapes and Wildlife ; Cyprus Flora MAY19 8vo paperback; 8vo; pp207 inc index; 1992; A very nice book indeed, with colour photos througout and a section at the rear on 'other wildlife' which includes butterflies, birds, lizards and a page or two on mammals.

Colin Thubron: Journey into Cyprus Small 8vo; Paperback; pp256 inc index. Expertly written travelogue to the island of Cyprus '...a six hundred mile trek on foot in the last year of the island's peace...' which remains thoroughly readable to this day. In this section as walking and wildlife go hand in hand. S.J.
