Barbara Cornwall Lyssarides: My Old Acquaintance: Yesterday in Cyprus ; Cyprus Travel May30 Paperback; 8vo; pp 300 inc some b/w photos in centre. + a few crosswords (!) at rear. Geoff Daniel: Landscapes of Cyprus: Car Tours, Walks, Picnics ; CYPRUS CYPTRA Tall 8vo; 3rd ed 1998; paperback; pp 125 inc index, map and lavishly illustrated. This third edition of the 'Sunflower' guide to Cyprus is the ideal book for walking or getting about the island. Includes bus time-tables at rear, though make sure you check with the operators before setting off.  Order this Book

Marc Dubin: Cypus: The Rough Guide ; Cyprus Travel pp319 to The Republic of Cyprus inc index + ads at rear. 8vo; paperback; 4th revised edition 2002. Includes some colour photos and a number of maps within. The authoratative guide book to Cyprus, expertly written by Marc Dubin and, as always with the Rough Guides, history and politics are richly included within the travel details. Quite simply the best all round travel guide to Cyprus. NB I have not included the section within the page numbers above, to the illegally occupied area of Cyprus as, quite frankly, they should not be in there! S.J.    Order this Book

Lawrence Durrell: Bitter Lemons of Cyprus ; Cyprus TRAVEL paperback; 8vo pp256 inc index. One of the superb travelogues by the novelist (Alexandria Quartet, Dark Labyrinth etc.)Lawrence (brother of Gerald) Durrell.First published in 1957 this is the umpteenth reprint. Whilst I'm personally not a great fan of Durrell's fiction, his travel books, of which this one is on Cyprus, are wonderfully written and highly evocative. S.J.    Order this Book

Vassos Karageorghis: Kition: Mycenaean and Phoenician Discoveries in Cyprus ; CYPHIS CYPRUS cloth with D/J; pp184 inc index; demy 8vo; Part of the 'New Aspects of Antiquity series, this book on Kition (Biblical Kittim)outside modern day Larnaca on Cyprus has many line drawings, a map, b/w photos throughout and a few colour plates within.   Order this Book

Kevork K Kessishian: Romantic Cyprus, Everybody's guide to ; CYPRUS CYPHIS CYPTRA pp 352 inc index + fold-out map within; 8vo; paperback; 17th ed. 1993. B/W photos abound in this old-fashioned style guide book which is brimming with information set out in a style not disimilar from the first edition way back in 1946! Reading this from cover to cover you may find more information on Cypriot history than in a lot of history books but as a travel guide it's not easy to navigate around, compared to some of the more recent formats. As an aside:is the middle K in the author's name a tad superfluous?  Order this Book

Bernard McDonagh and Ian Robertson: The Blue Guide to Cyprus ; Cyprus Travel, Archaeology, Small 8vo, paperback, pp247 inc index + blank pages for making notes. 4th revised edition 1998. Far and away the best guide book for archaeology, ancient and medieval history to the island of Cyprus. A few line drawings and maps within the text this is essential for those interested in pre 20th century history and monuments.     Order this Book

A lovely book designed primarily for children (so just about my level) of the history of Cyprus from the earlist settlers to the present day. Well produced, informative and colourful throughout.
