This page is designed to separate the sports links from the general links site. At the moment we have a few sportie type links, but I should imagine this should grow exponentially in the next year or so.

DIVING ON CRETE

kalypso.jpg (10517 bytes)

Kalypso Rock's Palace Diving Centre School.

Based in Plakias, on the South coast, this looks to be a wonderful opportunity to learn how to dive, or improve your diving skills in a faboulous area of Crete. Dives from Kalypso and Skinaria bays, where one will need an "open water diver" or higher qualification, this company also offers introductory courses, proficiency and certified course, such as "PADI". An excellent opportunity.

Based in Palaeohora, on the South West Coast of Crete, the above link will take you to the English version of a very nice site: "AQUACRETA Diving & Adventures is a PADI 5 Star Gold Palm IDC (Instructor Development Center) in the heart of Crete’s most beautiful and unexploited area, the Southern Coast of Chania. This high-level PADI award of excellence is a recognition for quality accommodations, superior service and excellent dive opportunities that stand out from the rest"

and whilst we are are about it, some of you may wish to walk parts of the E4 route, whcih runs from Zakros in the East to Gramvoussa in the North West. I shall be following alot of this route next year and shall be adding my own comments then.

Click on the map to enter "The E4 and other Mythical Trails"; Stelios Jackson's diary of events of walking across Crete. During May and June 2003, I walked across Crete, in very mysterious ways indeed. In my spare moments, I am writing up my experiences - in a somewhat long-winded manner - for "Interkriti."   Currently being serialised, with the final chapter due, May 2004.  SJ

Horse Riding

zoraida.gif (7843 bytes)

A bit of horseplay. Based in Georgioupolis "For your best-ever holiday enjoyment, we: Greek Georgi and Belgian Krystle offer exciting beach rides, beautiful mini-safaris and relaxing day trips. Green hills, goat-tracks, olive groves, herbs and wild flowers, the unique Lake of Kournas, Argiroupoli’s waterfalls, many small friendly villages and a superb beach combine to make this the holiday experience of a lifetime ! "

golf.jpg (3654 bytes)Golf

A spot of golf, anyone? If you fancy "spoiling a good walk" then there is going to be a golf club in Hersonissos, come July 2003. Actually, I enjoy golf alot, so I am quite glad that there will be place to play it on the Great Island; I do hope that they don't start springing up everywhere, though given the topography of Crete, I don't think they will!
