Right, this series also  requires a wee bit by way of explanation, so pay attention there at the back of the class: There are 2 books to this series. The first is called "Greek Now 1+1" and the second, "Greek Now 2+2", each costing £18.50. Both of these text books have 2 workbooks to go along with them if you wish and each of these (2 for each part) cost an additional £9.95 There is also an answer key to both parts of the textbooks, which you will need the workbooks for as the answers are to questions in there. Triantafullidh, Manolh A- Ta Ellhnika wV Deuterh Glwssa    A book for learning Greek (Greek as a second language) by the Aristotelean University in Thessaloniki.  

Triandaphyllidis, Manolis A- Concise Modern Greek Grammar   Translated by John Burke, this is Triandaphyllidis' seminal Greek grammar, though of course it was originally aimed a Greek market so learners may find it a bit overwhelming at time, for beginners

Learning Modern Greek as a foreign Language: A communicative Approach, by Smaro Vogiatzidou. 2002. An absolutely wonderful course, involving a textbook, which comes with a cassette and a workbook, a book for oral practice and accompanying 3 cassettes all for £65.00. We are able to offer the Coursebook/Workbook and cassette form the workbook at £47.50, though that is not a sufficient saving over the excellent value of the complete series, it is an option) Unfortunately we are unable to offer this course in constituent parts at the moment which is a great pity as, in my opinion, it is by far-and-away the best course book to learn Greek that has been written. Clear chapters with superb grammatical explanations in English (!!!) would make this an ideal book to be used in a classroom, but to compete with the likes of "Greek Now" and "Communicate in Greek", this book really should be obtainable on its own with the option to obtain the rest of the series, as and when, one needs them. Saying that, this is exceptional value. Let's compare prices:  If one were to buy the complete Ellinika Tora first part, which has one book, two cassettes, two workbooks, an answer key   it would set one back £58.30. The Communicate in Greek course consists of one textbook, two workbooks and one cassette and that would amount to £40.35. This series is far more thorough, (3 books and four tapes), better written and has clear explanations throughout, in English (which neither Greek Now or Communicate in Greek do). Elliniki Glossa by Babaniotis is a another option and equally well presented, but is far less thorough and like the two other books mentioned above has no English to help the learner. Even the vocabulary in the back, refers to the text within the book, so there is no chance of getting a double meaning. The photographs and text within are clear and user-friendly and as I have said above, this book is the best textbook I have seen, for learning Modern Greek. Absolutely excellent. SJ

Papaloizos, Theodore:  333 MODERN GREEK VERBS   Mod Greek Language Book. Adult level./ a book of 409 pages containing 333 verbs fully conjugated in the active and passive voice, and fully transated into English with examples of idiomtic uses. An ideal reference book for the student and teacher as well. it contains a Greek and English index of the verbs. new edition in the monotonic system. paperback. published in America. (beware, there are a few mistakes in here, but it is the best verb book on the market for the English learner, in my view. SJ)
