Aesop:
fable writer(b. c6th century BC though possibly mythical). In the
Loeb library as Babrius and Phaedrus (Loeb £12.95). This is a bit of a curiosity piece as
(I believe!) these 'Aesopic fables' are the only Loeb with both Latin and Greek in the
same volume. Aesop, may never have existed and certainly never wrote, so the collections
of his fables were put to papyrus by Babrius in Greek c.2nd century AD and Phaedrus in
Latin c 1st century BC.
