ANCIENT GREEK GRAMMAR BOOKS
|
Oxford Grammar of Classical Greek Greek Grammar by James Moorwood. Superb new Ancient Greek grammar. Clear and informative, this grammar is designed for the modern-day student and consequently has clear and uncomplicated explanations. £9.99 |
Ancient Greek can be a difficult language to get up and running with. Even Wilding's beginner's book states that it is up to the individual teacher to decide how far the pupil has progressed in Latin before beginning Greek. If you have never studied Latin, don't be put off. You can learn Greek first if you wish though, of course, an underlying knowledge of Latin would help. |
Course books
Athenaze

Course books for learning ancient Greek. Excellent for classroom use, though make sure that you buy the UK edition if studying over here, as the other editions have different case order and that may well confuse you, especially if you have been studying Latin.

J.A.C.T Course

The preferred course for universities, and with the publication of the "Independent Study Guide", this series is now by far the best for home use, also. J.A.C.T. is the Joint Association of Classical Teachers.
